Nel week-end si è tenuta la NYCC 2022, ovvero la nuova edizione della New York Comic-Convention, e la Marvel ha colto l’occasione per annunciare un grandissimo numero di novità che animeranno il suo parco testate nei primi mesi del 2023.
Sulla falsariga delle ormai celebri timeline del Marvel Cinematic Universe e riprendendo quella diffusa l’anno scorso (la quale però non è stata pienamente rispettata nelle tempistiche, con Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur che uscirà soltanto il mese prossimo), nel corso del panel Marvel’s Next Big Thing l’editor in chief C.B. Cebulski ha svelato la timeline degli eventi che occuperanno il Marvel Universe tra la fine del 2022 e i primi mesi del 2023.
Si parte con eventi già noti, come Avengers Assemble, ovvero la saga che chiude la gestione di Jason Aaron degli Avengers, Dark Web, il crossover tra Spider-Man, Venom e X-Men che riprende un po’ la vecchia saga Inferno, e Sins of Sinister, la saga degli X-Men che sembra assomigliare molto alla classica Era di Apocalisse ma con il personaggio di Sinistro al centro di tutto. Nel corso di questo evento le serie X-Men: Red, Legion of X e Immortal X-Men saranno sostituite rispettivamente da Storm and the Brotherhood of Mutants, Nightcrawlers e Immoral X-Men.

Si prosegue poi con Captain America: Cold War, di cui si era già accennato in precedenza, per poi proseguire con Summer of Symbiotes, storia che coinvolgerà le serie di Venom, Carnage e la nuovissima Red Goblin (serie che nasce dalle ceneri di Dark Web, insieme alla miniserie Hallow’s Eve), e quindi Fall of X, altra saga estiva che lascia presagiri sconvolgimenti radicali per il mondo degli X-Men.

Tra le novità annunciate alla NYCC 2022 c’è stata anche la notizia che Marvel Comics e Viz Media collaboreranno nuovamente, dopo il successo di Deadpool Samurai, con il lancio di tre nuovi titoli nell’estate 2023. Si tratta delle nuove edizioni di Wolverine: Snikt di Tsutomi Nihei (uscita originariamente come comic book nel 2003) e di Spider-Man: Fake Red, manga di Yusuke Osawa serializzato da Kodansha tra il 2019 e il 2020.

Il terzo titolo invece sarà Marvel Comics: A Manga Tribute un’antologia che raccoglierà illustrazioni di vari autori: Akira Himekawa, Chika Ogaki, Gurihiru, Hachi Ishie, Haruhiko Mikimoto, Hiroyuki Imaishi, Kamome Shirahama, Katsuya Terada, Kazuki Takahashi, Ken Niimura, Kia Asamiya, Mizuki Sakakibara, Peach Momoko, Q Hayashida, Sana Takeda, Shigeto Koyama, Shou Tajima, Studio Nadegata Circus, Takashi Okazaki, Yasuhiro Nightow, Yoshitaka Amano, Yūsuke Kozaki, Yusuke Murata.

A differenza di San Diego, non ci sono stati grandi annunci riguardanti i Marvel Studios. La notizia più succosa è arrivata direttamente da Oscar Isaac, che ha confermato che in futuro rivedremo sicuramente il Moon Knight da lui interpretato, anche se non ha specificato dove. In un altro panel, Destin Daniel Cretton, regista di Shang-Chi e la Leggenda dei Dieci Anelli, ha confermato che è il regista prescelto per dirigere Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
